President: Michael Sharman
Michael has been passionate about men’s work for the past 30 years having been an instigator of both TasMen and it’s annual men’s gathering. He is aware the quality of his life has been improved immeasurably through his connection and work with men in this community.
Michael wants this community (TasMen) to grow exponentially, allowing other men to benefit from their connection with other great men.
Married with 2 adult children, Michael can be found in the waters of the Derwent most mornings enjoying the company of other TasMen blokes, the beautiful coastline and cold water itself. What a way to start a day.

Vice President: Val Ansett
I have been associated with men's work for the last decade here in Tasmania, NZ and on the mainland. I am passionate about healthy male modeling in the family, workplace and world.
I am the father of two teenage boys (Ronan and Bodhi), and work and volunteer in predominantly male organisations. My wife, Wajan, is a skilled relationship counsellor.
I am a lover of the wild, the water, and the feminine. I bring with me experience in meditation, breathwork, massage and emergency management. A fantastic mix.
As part of the TasMen committee, I aim to help empower our members, new men and men's groups to support each other, their families and our community.

In 2022, I embarked on my menswork journey with TasMen. Quickly realising the significant personal benefits it brought to my own life, it ignited a passion for assisting other men and contributing to the community. As the current TasMen Gathering (TMG) Event Coordinator, I also dedicate my time to volunteering with Prison Fellowship Australia.
I am a proud father and love ocean swimming, cycling and quality time with my two young daughters.

I discovered Tasmen during a particularly challenging season of my life, and men's work has had a profound impact on me. Serving on the Tasmen committee is both an honour and a privilege, and I hope to contribute meaningfully to the community.
My interests include fitness, nature, travel, personal growth, building connections, spirituality, and spending time with friends and family, including my beloved pet greyhound.

Until my introduction to TasMen in 2017, menswork was a mystery to me. I’d done some meditation, some thinking about my life, but it was largely a solo journey. An invitation from a friend and mentor to attend a TasMen Mens Gathering turned out to be a life changing invite. I am passionate about this community, this menswork which has positively impacted me, my family and my broader network so deeply. I have joined the TasMen committee with the intention to help promote and grow the menswork community - I’d love all men to have the opportunity to create meaningful, positive and lasting connections that enrich the lives of their families, workplaces and ultimately, our entire community and state.
I’m a happy husband, a proud dad and a solid friend. I love a Saturday morning breathe and swim with my mates, regular sauna and cold water, mountain biking and keeping fit and healthy and generally, really enjoying life!
